Accepting a Student or an Apprentice Midwife!
Each Midwife of Red Tent Midwives is committed to helping build up the future of midwifery care. We strongly believe in teaching future midwives and hope to further the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential. We welcome you to join us!
Nestled in the Treasure Valley of Southern Idaho, along the Boise River, we help families usher in new life. We care for each person individually in their home for a safe and sound pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
We serve a broad geographical range as well as our clientele. Please see the 'Areas We Serve' tab to learn more. Having your own reliable transportation is essential.
We average 1-3 births a month and are on-call for each client during the 5-week due date range of 37-42 weeks per client. As our student, you will be on-call with us in addition to attending prenatal and postpartum appointments several days a week.
Any skill level is welcome; however our preference is that observation births are completed before joining us. Black and other POC people are encouraged to apply. We welcome both MEAC & PEP students and are happy to enhance and hone your skills. Because we are dealing with lives, NRP & CPR are required during your apprenticeship. We are NARM and MCU preceptors and are available to become preceptors for other schools, too.
Southern Idaho is tone of he fastest growing regions in the country right now and Boise is a refugee city. This means we have the privilege to care for many people from all walks of life and cultures. Boise, Idaho is home to beautiful Foothills, excellent Winter sports, and exciting and relaxing Summer activities.
You will be joining our two midwives and a first student to be our second student until January 2021 when you will move into the first student position. Please use this contact form (not FB or Instagram, please) to arrange an interview. This is not a part-time situation. Our student(s) should be living in the area to be able to attend appointments so as to connect with our clients and for a full well-rounded education and the best continuity of care for our clients.
Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!
